Tokyo Weather in June
Planning a trip to Japan in June? Here's what the weather will actually be like in Tokyo — and what it means for your itinerary, packing list, and whether June is even a good time to visit.
June is one of the trickier months to plan around in Japan. It's the start of the tsuyu (梅雨) — the rainy season — which brings 11 to 13 days of rain on average, high humidity, and temperatures in the mid-70s to low 80s°F. It's not a dealbreaker (there are real upsides: fewer tourists, lush green landscapes, cheaper flights), but it does change how you should pack and plan.
Meteorologist Ian Schwartz breaks down what to expect.

Is June a good time to visit Tokyo?
It's a trade-off. You'll deal with rain and humidity, but in return you'll see fewer tourists, lush green landscapes, and often cheaper flights and hotels. If you can handle a humid, rainy week, June is genuinely worth considering.
Does the tsuyu rainy season mean it rains all day every day?
No. Tsuyu means more frequent rain (often heavy at times), but plenty of days still have dry stretches. It's less constant downpour and more 'expect rain at some point most days.' Bring a compact umbrella and waterproof shoes.
