Tokyo Weather in October
Planning a trip to Japan in October? Here's why a lot of travelers consider it the best month of the year to visit Tokyo — and the one thing to watch for if you go.
October is when Tokyo finally turns the corner. The brutal heat of August and September fades, highs cool from the mid-70s to upper 60s as the month goes on, nights get crisp (sometimes dipping into the 50s), humidity drops, and the autumn colors start showing up. You can still get warm afternoon spikes into the 80s and 9–11 days of rain, but typhoon season is winding down and the weather is genuinely pleasant. The trade-off: October is peak travel season, so expect bigger crowds at the spots you're trying to photograph.
Meteorologist Ian Schwartz breaks down what to actually expect.
